Dental implants
A long-term way to replace a missing tooth, with a natural-looking crown fixed to a titanium post.

Is it right for me?
- Implants can replace one tooth, several teeth, or support a denture.
- You need enough healthy bone and healthy gums. A 3D scan shows us whether that is the case.
- Smoking and some health conditions raise the risk of problems. We talk this through openly first.
What happens
Consultation and 3D scan
We check your mouth, take a 3D scan and explain your options, including alternatives to implants.
Placing the implant
The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so the area is numb throughout. Many people find it easier than they expected.
Healing
The implant bonds with your jawbone, which usually takes a few months. You can have a temporary tooth meanwhile.
Fitting your crown
A custom crown is fitted to the implant, matched to the shade and shape of your teeth.

- A gap where a tooth is missing.
- A small titanium implant is placed in the jawbone.
- Over a few months, the bone bonds with the implant.
- A custom crown is fitted on top, matched to your teeth.

Cost and finance
A single implant with its crown starts at £2,650. Bone grafting, if needed, is extra and is always priced in your written plan. Interest-free finance is available, subject to status.
Interest-free finance is available on treatment over £1,000, subject to status. Sample wording: a real practice uses the approved wording from its finance provider.

- Expect some swelling and tenderness for a few days after placement.
- Like natural teeth, implants need daily cleaning and regular check-ups to stay healthy.
- Implants can fail, though this is uncommon. Gum disease and smoking are the main risks.
Every mouth is different. Your dentist will explain the risks and alternatives that apply to you before you decide.
Common questions
Does getting an implant hurt?
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain. Afterwards, most people manage with everyday painkillers for a few days.
How long do implants last?
With good cleaning and regular check-ups, implants can last many years. The crown on top may need replacing at some point.
What if I am not suitable?
We will explain why and talk through other options, such as a bridge or a denture.
